What is your return policy?
We will accept returns on any items that do not have a personalized name, date, or unique quote. Please Contact Us if you would like to request a return and include the reason(s) for your return. The buyer will be required to arrange and pay for shipping the item back to us. Once we have received the item, we will issue a full refund of your purchase. If your item is personalized, we may still take a return or work out a resolution. It really depends what the reasoning is, so please contact us and give all details, and we will get right back with you to find a resolution.
We handle returns that involve personalized name(s), date(s), or unique quotes on a case by case basis. Contact Us and explain in detail the reason for your return request. We will be in touch to resolve any issues and work out a resolution depending on the reason for return. We do send Mock Ups prior to making any customized items. It is solely up to the buyer to make sure they look over the Mock Up and get back to us with any changes; paying particular attention to spelling, dates, capitalization, and text layout & alignment. The final step will be to provide us with an approval. If Howdy Owl doesn't receive a response within 7 days of your order, we will proceed with how it looks best to us. It is the responsibility of the buyer to make sure they provide accurate email addresses and phone numbers when submitting their order and also be on the look out for any emails from Howdy Owl after an order has been placed.
What is your shipping policy & how long does it take to receive my item?
It generally takes us around 2 weeks from the time we receive an order until we have the item ready for shipment. Allow another 2-4 business days for shipping transit within the United States. International orders will need to allow 1-2 weeks for transit times. Since most of our items are made to order, our processing times do vary. Sometimes we will get an item sent out well before the 2 week mark. If we are very busy, it can take up to 3 weeks. Please Contact Us prior to ordering if you are in need of something by a specific date. We do have a small inventory of items that are 'In Stock' and ready to ship within 1 business day of the time they are ordered.
What if my item gets damaged during shipping?
Please take photos of the box it was shipped in as well as the contents inside, and Contact Us immediately. Also, contact the shipping company and start a Damage Claim. They will issue you a Case ID #. Send us the Case ID # and your photos. We will handle the claim from there and will get a new item made up and sent out as quickly as possible.
Can I make changes after my order has been placed?
Yes - but it is time sensitive! We generally don't get started on an order right after it has been placed. Our timing varies day to day depending on our current workload. As long as we haven't already started on your item, we won't have any issue accommodating any change requests. But, it is very important that you Contact Us as soon as possible after an order has been placed!
Can I get a Custom Color?
Unfortunately, we do not offer any other color options than what you see in the color pallet for each listing. Our finish colors involve a fairly complex process, so it isn't quite as simple as changing out one color for another, or reversing the color scheme.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes... to a certain extent. As long as it is within our color pallet and size offerings we will take a look at what you have in mind. Any images sent need to be High Resolution, and they need to be somewhat simple. Fees will apply for images or logos that need to be redesigned in order to achieve a clean carve. Keep in mind Customized items can take longer than our normal 1-2 week production time.
How Heavy are your Maps?
Our maps are made of solid pine. So, even though they are solid wood, it is a light weight wood. Our largest map (23 x 47) weighs around 17 lbs. All items have either a cable wire or saw tooth hanger on the back.
Can I mark the map with pins or nails?
YES! It is solid pine, but the wood is fairly soft. Most push pins should work, but we recommend using small gold (or any color for that matter) nails.
What do we use to have guests sign our item?
Any permanent marker will work - we recommend fine tip. We spray all of our pieces with a protective clear coat. If many people will be signing, take that into consideration for which size you want. We recommend putting a nice note beside the item letting your guests know to sign legibly but small enough to accommodate other guest signatures. We also recommend that you have close friends or family sign first, prior to the big day, to make sure the pen you want to use will work the way you want it to. And, to give the first guests that sign an idea how big they should sign. You can sign the main board as well as the carving (if you have different color markers).
If I order a larger map, does that mean the carving is larger as well?
YES! The size of the carving is going to be dictated by the size of the item you order. Our 23 x 35 world map will carve to the same proportions as it would on the 15 x 24.
Are your items made of reclaimed wood?
NO! Any of our items that appear to be made of reclaimed wood, are made of new wood that has been painted, distressed, and sanded to give it the appearance of reclaimed wood.
